I have read it largely in one sitting. Great reading.

Loved hearing about your NZ journey….and buying house and the details of that. Making friends…getting into groups. Your fun dinners etc …. just everyday stuff but it makes you real…and brings the reader along on the journey with you.

The grandchildren’s arrivals were classic and we could relate so well to the joy of that. 

Your overseas travel was amazing. Loved it all and the details of the food and places. I love good food and travel and you had me there with you all the way.

I felt like I got to know your friends and was almost there at the places with you. 

I enjoyed hearing that William Booth was you great, great grandfather and imagined how wonderful it was to take family to where he was buried.  You obviously come from a line of doers and leaders who get stuff done.

A great guide for people wanting to go to these place and good hearing about Air BnB as it seemed like a great option.

By the way I love the fabric you chose for the curtains and furniture.  I love colour and have been too restrained lately.  Our next shift will be a colourful one me thinks.

I’ve just spent a lazy weekend enjoying Annemarie’s latest memoir “Further Late Life Adventures”.

While it’s winter here in New Zealand, I’ve been transported (metaphorically) back to London and Europe to enjoy spring, summer and autumn.

Feasting on delicious fresh market meals; indulging in cafes people watching and sampling luscious pastries; spending time with their warm, fun loving friends; visiting memorable destinations and absorbing history, plus meeting total strangers who open their hearts to Annemarie with such frank honesty that I found myself with tears in my eyes.

And then we have been tourists in our own wonderful country with new friends and old. Plus whisked to Australia to welcome their grandchildren into the world and to explore new places.   Absolutely recommend this “written from the heart” memoir.

After leaving London in the throes of the covid pandemic, Annemarie and Steve return to NZ, with new challenges ahead. I totally loved their joy at becoming new grandparents, and looking for their new home.

But Annemarie's itchy feet soon send them travelling again. I really enjoy it when she visits somewhere I know, to see how her impressions of a place match or differ to mine: but I also love finding new places.

Annemarie's writing style is so easy to read, whether she's describing a cathedral or a delicious meal, and it's not difficult to see how she makes friends everywhere she goes. Yes, there are lots of food and wine descriptions, which I expect from Annemarie, and I was crossing my fingers that she would share some recipes, and yay! there are recipes at the end of the book.

Mostly set in Europe, but with jaunts to Australia and New Zealand, this is a wonderful cornucopia of travel delights.

I was asked to be an ARC reader for this book. This is my unsolicited and unbiased review.

I sincerely hope you love it, if you do decide to dive in and get this book.
