There is something incredibly magical about the Duoro region and Pinhao in particular.  We had a wonderful stay at Quinta de la Rosa.  Truly, if you decide to go, stay here.  Make sure you book for dinner as it is outstanding.  And then there's the wine .... We got lucky and Steve managed to join the crew for the grape-stomping. Enormous fun and a great thigh workout!

We caught the train from Porto which was easy and relaxing.  You can drive it too, of course. The Porto and Pinhao train stations are a glory of blue and white scenic tiles, which I adore.
