"I was hooked at ‘let me tell you how it all unfolded’ I would never have the courage to do what Annemarie and her husband did but I’m very glad they had this adventure because I have loved being with them. I’ve shared the ups and downs wanted to slap their employer and his agent on behalf of Annemarie and shake Harry until his teeth rattle. Having said that her sense of humour and delight in the area, people and the food are a delight. I read this in two sittings and can’t wait to join them both on their next adventure."

"A lovely read of what must have been a real voyage of adventure - coming to live in France from New Zealand is a a major change and to manage a house you haven't seen and deal with people you don't know in a foreign land must have been so challenging. Annemarie paints a vivid picture of the places, people and events she and her husband Steve encountered on their French sojourn, from the difficult employers and agent at Mas de Lavande to the language faux pas, new friends and delicious sounding menus for obviously appreciative houseguests. So glad the recipe for Chocolate Terrine is included in the book, can't wait to try that and the next instalment of the Dream Life in France."

"Just finished this beautifully written book. My goodness how brave Annemarie and Steven were to undertake this adventure! IT was so sad To read that they were treated so badly by their employers after all that hard work! Fortunately they met so many wonderful people on the way and managed to turn it all around! Can’t wait for the second book."
