Living the French dream. What could possibly go wrong?

When Annemarie and her husband, Steve, exchange their comfortable life in New Zealand for a new adventure managing a 15th-century farmhouse in the French countryside, they imagine a life of charming villages, glorious food, wonderful wines and the pleasures of rural France.

What they don't imagine is ending up homeless.

Or living in filth, struggling with dilapidated equipment and dealing with a belligerent boss!

As their dreams of an idyllic French life begin to unravel, Annemarie and Steve must summon every ounce of determination, resourcefulness and good humour to navigate the unexpected challenges of living and working abroad.

But amid the mishaps and frustrations, there's still the irresistible beauty of the French countryside, extraordinary people to meet, friendships to forge and mouth-watering meals to create and share.

Will these pleasures be enough to rescue their French adventure, or will they be forced to abandon their dreams and return to New Zealand?

Filled with humour, food, friendship and the unpredictable realities of starting again in midlife, My French Platter is an entertaining travel memoir about moving to France, embracing a different culture and discovering that the life you've dreamed of isn't always the life you get.

Perfect for readers who love memoirs about living in France, French country life, food, travel and the courage to begin again later in life.
